| Long Ago in Ancient Greece........
My 4-5 art classes have been studying ancient Greece. Each student has created a book containing many samples of Greek art. The above vase designs were done as scratch art projects. The mosaic below is an unfinished sample of the fine work one student was producing for the cover of his Greek book.
License to Brag The following photos are of the 4-5 project I call "License to Brag". We had been learning about line and were putting the knowledge together to create a design unique to each student in the style of the Kansas State License Plates. The students had to follow several different design criteria: Size of finished work, placement and inclusion of certain design elements (ie: wheat, color, letter style etc.), they also had to make a planning list of personal attributes and interests and from that list think of a clever 7 character or less way to express a personalized vanity message. This was quite a challenge for many of the students but we had some very clever results. These four were chosen as student of the month for their classes. Pumpkin Party!!! These photos are of name pumpkins done by my 2nd-3rd grade students. This was also a line project where the students needed to concentrate on using line to create a shape - in this case, bubble style letters - which needed to fill a particular space. We chose a pumpkin as it was done in the fall. This was a very challenging project for the 2-3 graders as they had to really stretch their abilities to fill the entire space. There was some grumbling, but as you can see by the end results, there was some great successes here.
